Medial Yḁ Consonants!

£

In Burmese Scripts, medial yḁ consonants locate in the middle of a word. Its indicated by the yḁ-bin and the yḁ-yi’ symbols, as shown in the example: ( ချ ၊ ခြ ).

For example, when the vowel follows the medial yḁ consonant, the pronunciation of the combined unit can differ from the original sounds.

Like in many Asian languages, Burmese scripts have formed a combination between consonants and vowels.

To approximate the sound of the word accurately, learners should be aware of the medial consonants.
